CVSS v3.1 |
| Improper Handling of Highly Compressed Data (Data Amplification) in esaml_binding in dropbox esaml allows an unauthenticated attacker to exhaust server memory and crash the Erlang VM via a crafted compressed SAMLResponse.
esaml_binding:decode_response/2 base64-decodes the attacker-supplied SAMLResponse, inflates it with zlib:unzip/1 with no bound on the output, then converts the result to a charlist with binary_to_list/1 before parsing. This runs on the SAML consume (ACS) and single-logout endpoints, which accept unauthenticated requests by design, and it runs before any signature check. A small deflate stream reaches a compression ratio near 1000 to 1, so a request body of tens of kilobytes inflates to hundreds of megabytes and then to several gigabytes of list heap, so a few requests exhaust memory and take the node down.
This issue affects esaml: from 0.1.0 onward. |
| In Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4.4, 10.2.8, 10.0.11, and 9.4.16, an unauthenticated user could send a single crafted request to the Splunk Web JavaScript logger endpoint and cause Splunk Web to stop responding to requests. Splunk Web remains unavailable until Splunk Enterprise is restarted.
The vulnerability is possible because Splunk Web does not limit request-header parsing before processing the request. |
| In Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4.4, 10.2.8, and 10.0.11, an unauthenticated user could send repeated requests to the Edge Processor package download endpoint in the Splunk Pipeline Builders app. The requests could cause the Splunk daemon to consume excessive system resources and potentially stop responding.
The vulnerability is possible because the endpoint accepts package download requests without authentication and reads and base64-encodes the complete package in memory for each request.
After upgrading, prepare all existing Edge Processor instances, turn on authentication for Edge Processor package downloads, and restart Splunk Enterprise. For more information, see Enable authentication for Edge Processor package downloads (https://help.splunk.com/en/data-management/process-data-at-the-edge/use-edge-processors-for-splunk-enterprise/10.4/administer-edge-processors/enable-authentication-for-edge-processor-package-downloads). |
| Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 9.1.0 until 13.0.0, BmpRleDecoder.decode() in src/PIL/BmpImagePlugin.py permits crafted RLE BMP delta escapes and absolute-mode runs to append beyond the remaining dest_length without a per-branch cap. A delta can add roughly 255 image rows in one iteration, so a kilobyte-sized file with a large but permitted width can expand the data bytearray to hundreds of megabytes or more, causing memory-exhaustion denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0. |
| Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 11.0.0 until 13.0.0, Exif.load() in src/PIL/Image.py repeatedly slices the remaining EXIF data while it begins with the six-byte Exif header. src/PIL/PngImagePlugin.py accepts an uncapped PNG eXIf chunk, so a file filled with repeated headers causes a new shrinking copy on every iteration and quadratic CPU work. The condition is reachable through Image.getexif(), Image._getexif(), and ImageOps.exif_transpose(), including common photo-upload rotation workflows. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0. |
| Pillow is a Python imaging library. Prior to 13.0.0, SpiderImageFile.seek() in src/PIL/SpiderImagePlugin.py reparses a later SPIDER stack frame and replaces self._size without rerunning Image._decompression_bomb_check(). A tiny file can use a safe first frame to pass Image.open() and then declare very large dimensions in a later mode F frame. Loading that frame allocates approximately four bytes per attacker-declared pixel and can consume multiple gigabytes of memory. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0. |
| Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 5.1.0 until 13.0.0, PdfParser.linearize_page_tree() in src/PIL/PdfParser.py treats a PDF /Pages graph as a tree without tracking duplicate indirect references. When Image.save(..., format="PDF", append=True) processes an attacker-controlled existing PDF whose /Kids arrays repeatedly reference the same child /Pages node, Pillow expands the shared subtree as distinct pages. A compact malformed PDF can therefore create exponentially many page references and consume disproportionate CPU before the append completes. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0. |
| Pillow is a Python imaging library. Prior to 13.0.0, MpoImageFile.seek() and DcxImageFile.seek() reparse later MPO or DCX frames and replace self._size without rerunning Image._decompression_bomb_check(). A crafted multi-frame image can use a tiny first frame to pass Image.open() and then declare an over-limit later frame. Normal frame iteration through seek(), load(), or ImageSequence.Iterator can decode that frame and commit hundreds of megabytes or more, causing memory-exhaustion denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0. |
| pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.21.0, an attacker can craft a PDF containing arrays or dictionaries with many elements, causing parsing to consume large amounts of memory. This issue is fixed in version 6.21.0. |
| pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.21.0, an attacker can craft a PDF that causes large memory usage or long runtimes when an application retrieves the document's form fields. This issue is fixed in version 6.21.0. |
| pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.21.0, an attacker can craft a PDF containing a content stream with many small operations, causing parsing to consume large amounts of memory. This issue is fixed in version 6.21.0. |
| pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.20.0, accessing a crafted PDF stream with a large number of filters or multiple filters that pass around large amounts of data can cause large memory consumption. This issue is fixed in version 6.20.0. |
| Vulnerability in the MySQL Connectors product of Oracle MySQL (component: Connector/J). The supported version that is affected is 26.7.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Connectors. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a partial denial of service (partial DOS) of MySQL Connectors. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 4.3 (Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L). |
| filelock is a platform-independent file lock for Python. From 3.20.4 until 4.2.1, ReadWriteLock can open a crafted SQLite lock database without bounding schema and query work, allowing another local user who can replace the database to make acquisition stall or hang; versions from 3.20.4 expose this on initial per-instance opening, and versions from 3.30.0 repeat the exposure on every acquisition. This issue is fixed in version 4.2.1. |
| Vulnerability in the Oracle Outside In Technology product of Oracle Fusion Middleware (component: Outside In Core). The supported version that is affected is 8.5.8. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Outside In Technology. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of Oracle Outside In Technology. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 7.5 (Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H). |
| toml-node is a TOML parser for Node.js and the browser. Prior to 5.0.1, toml.parse() passes unbounded hexadecimal, octal, binary, and decimal digit sequences from lib/parser.js to BigInt() before reduceInteger() in lib/compiler.js checks whether the resulting value fits the TOML 64-bit integer range. Converting a sufficiently long integer string consumes super-linear CPU time and synchronously blocks the Node.js event loop, allowing one attacker-supplied TOML document to deny service to concurrent work in the process. The later range check cannot prevent the conversion cost because it executes after BigInt(). This issue is fixed in version 5.0.1. |
| toml-node is a TOML parser for Node.js and the browser. Prior to 5.0.1, toml.parse() repeatedly slices and rejoins every path prefix in lib/compiler.js while processing long dotted keys, table headers, array-of-tables headers, and inline-table keys in assign(), deepRef(), and setNestedKey(). The resulting quadratic work can block the Node.js event loop for several seconds, and sufficiently long paths can terminate the process through memory exhaustion. The maxDepth option does not limit key-segment count and therefore does not mitigate this path. This issue is fixed in version 5.0.1. |
| toml-node is a TOML parser for Node.js and the browser. Prior to 5.0.1, the toml.parse() compiler's addTableArray() function in lib/compiler.js rescans the complete assignedPaths and valueAssignments bookkeeping sets for every array-of-tables header. Distinct [[name]] paths are not pruned, so a document with many such headers causes quadratic synchronous work and can block the Node.js event loop, denying service to other operations in the process. This issue is fixed in version 5.0.1. |
| Text::CSV_XS versions before 1.65 for Perl allow quadratic CPU use by copying the unparsed remainder per record of CR-only input in getline.
With eol unset, the default, getline reads with Perl's default line separator, so input with CR-only line endings arrives as one chunk. After each record the parser copies the whole unparsed remainder into a new buffer, which the next call parses and copies again, so the work grows with the square of the input size.
A reader with default options that is sent CSV with classic Mac line endings spends seconds of CPU time on a megabyte of input. |
| GPAC MP4Box v2.4 was discovered to contain a floating point exception in the gf_parse_lfrac function (utils/error.c). Processing a crafted MP4 file containing a zero-denominator fraction string causes gf_parse_lfrac() to divide by zero, terminating the process with SIGFPE. |
