CVSS v3.1 |
| AliasVault is a privacy-first password manager with built-in email aliasing. Prior to 0.30.3, the AliasVault server API favicon extractor validates a user-supplied hostname with a first DNS lookup but allows the HTTP client to perform a second DNS lookup when connecting. An authenticated low-privileged user operating an attacker-controlled authoritative DNS server can return a public address during validation and a private address during connection, causing a publicly reachable self-hosted server to issue HTTP or HTTPS requests to internal hosts. A valid image response is returned in Base64 form, while other responses can expose limited timing and error information for internal-network reconnaissance. Exploitation requires a publicly reachable self-hosted instance with public registration enabled, an authenticated AliasVault account, an attacker-controlled authoritative DNS server, and a resolver that permits rebinding; default checks limit requests to ports 80 and 443. The browser extensions, web application, and mobile applications are not affected. This issue is fixed in version 0.30.3. |
| Time-of-check time-of-use (toctou) race condition in Windows BitLocker allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
i2c: core: fix adapter deregistration race
Adapters can be looked up by their id using i2c_get_adapter() which
takes a reference to the embedded struct device.
Remove the adapter from the IDR before tearing it down during
deregistration (and on registration failure) to make sure its resources
are not accessed after having been freed (e.g. the device name). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: mana: Fix TOCTOU double-fetch of hwc_msg_id from DMA buffer
In mana_hwc_rx_event_handler(), resp->response.hwc_msg_id is read from
DMA-coherent memory and bounds-checked, then mana_hwc_handle_resp()
re-reads the same field from the same DMA buffer for test_bit() and
pointer arithmetic.
DMA-coherent memory is mapped uncacheable on x86 and is shared,
unencrypted, in Confidential VMs (SEV-SNP/TDX), so each load goes
directly to host-visible memory. A H/W can modify the value
between the check and the use, bypassing the bounds validation.
Fix this by reading hwc_msg_id exactly once using READ_ONCE() into a
stack-local variable in mana_hwc_rx_event_handler(), and passing the
validated value as a parameter to mana_hwc_handle_resp(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: shaper: rework the VALID marking (again)
Recent commit changed the semantics from NOT_VALID to VALID.
I didn't realize that the flags are not stored atomically
with the entry in XArray. There's still a race of reader
observing a VALID mark for a slot, getting interrupted,
writer replacing the entry with a different one, reader
continuing, fetching the entry which is now a different
pointer than the pointer for which VALID was meant.
The biggest consequence of this is that we may see a UAF
since net_shaper_rollback() assumed that entries without
VALID can be freed without observing RCU.
Looks like the XArray marks are buying us nothing at this
point. Let's convert the code to an explicit valid field.
The smp_load_acquire() / smp_store_release() barriers are
marginally cleaner. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
sctp: fix race between sctp_wait_for_connect and peeloff
sctp_wait_for_connect() drops and re-acquires the socket lock while
waiting for the association to reach ESTABLISHED state. During this
window, another thread can peeloff the association to a new socket via
getsockopt(SCTP_SOCKOPT_PEELOFF), changing asoc->base.sk. After
re-acquiring the old socket lock, sctp_wait_for_connect() returns
success without noticing the migration — the caller then accesses
the association under the wrong lock in sctp_datamsg_from_user().
Add the same sk != asoc->base.sk check that sctp_wait_for_sndbuf()
already has, returning an error if the association was migrated while
we slept. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
KVM: SEV: Use READ_ONCE() when reading entries/indices from PSC buffer
Use READ_ONCE() when reading entries/indices from the guest-accessible
Page State Change buffer to defend against TOCTOU bugs.
Don't bother with READ_ONCE()/WRITE_ONCE() for cases where KVM is writing
(and not consuming the result!), as the guest isn't supposed to touch the
buffer while it's being processed. I.e. using READ_ONCE() is all about
protecting against misbehaving guests. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
xsk: cache csum_start/csum_offset to fix TOCTOU in xsk_skb_metadata()
The TX metadata area resides in the UMEM buffer which is memory-mapped
and concurrently writable by userspace. In xsk_skb_metadata(),
csum_start and csum_offset are read from shared memory for bounds
validation, then read again for skb assignment. A malicious userspace
application can race to overwrite these values between the two reads,
bypassing the bounds check and causing out-of-bounds memory access
during checksum computation in the transmit path.
Fix this by reading csum_start and csum_offset into local variables
once, then using the local copies for both validation and assignment.
Note that other metadata fields (flags, launch_time) and the cached
csum fields may be mutually inconsistent due to concurrent userspace
writes, but this is benign: the only security-critical invariant is
that each field's validated value is the same one used, which local
caching guarantees. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ext4: fix e4b bitmap inconsistency reports
A bitmap inconsistency issue was observed during stress tests under
mixed huge-page workloads. Ext4 reported multiple e4b bitmap check
failures like:
ext4_mb_complex_scan_group:2508: group 350, 8179 free clusters as
per group info. But got 8192 blocks
Analysis and experimentation confirmed that the issue is caused by a
race condition between page migration and bitmap modification. Although
this timing window is extremely narrow, it is still hit in practice:
folio_lock ext4_mb_load_buddy
__migrate_folio
check ref count
folio_mc_copy __filemap_get_folio
folio_try_get(folio)
......
mb_mark_used
ext4_mb_unload_buddy
__folio_migrate_mapping
folio_ref_freeze
folio_unlock
The root cause of this issue is that the fast path of load_buddy only
increments the folio's reference count, which is insufficient to prevent
concurrent folio migration. We observed that the folio migration process
acquires the folio lock. Therefore, we can determine whether to take the
fast path in load_buddy by checking the lock status. If the folio is
locked, we opt for the slow path (which acquires the lock) to close this
concurrency window.
Additionally, this change addresses the following issues:
When the DOUBLE_CHECK macro is enabled to inspect bitmap-related
issues, the following error may be triggered:
corruption in group 324 at byte 784(6272): f in copy != ff on
disk/prealloc
Analysis reveals that this is a false positive. There is a specific race
window where the bitmap and the group descriptor become momentarily
inconsistent, leading to this error report:
ext4_mb_load_buddy ext4_mb_load_buddy
__filemap_get_folio(create|lock)
folio_lock
ext4_mb_init_cache
folio_mark_uptodate
__filemap_get_folio(no lock)
......
mb_mark_used
mb_mark_used_double
mb_cmp_bitmaps
mb_set_bits(e4b->bd_bitmap)
folio_unlock
The original logic assumed that since mb_cmp_bitmaps is called when the
bitmap is newly loaded from disk, the folio lock would be sufficient to
prevent concurrent access. However, this overlooks a specific race
condition: if another process attempts to load buddy and finds the folio
is already in an uptodate state, it will immediately begin using it without
holding folio lock. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/packet: fix TOCTOU race on mmap'd vnet_hdr in tpacket_snd()
In tpacket_snd(), when PACKET_VNET_HDR is enabled, vnet_hdr points
directly into the mmap'd TX ring buffer shared with userspace. The
kernel validates the header via __packet_snd_vnet_parse() but then
re-reads all fields later in virtio_net_hdr_to_skb(). A concurrent
userspace thread can modify the vnet_hdr fields between validation
and use, bypassing all safety checks.
The non-TPACKET path (packet_snd()) already correctly copies vnet_hdr
to a stack-local variable. All other vnet_hdr consumers in the kernel
(tun.c, tap.c, virtio_net.c) also use stack copies. The TPACKET TX
path is the only caller of virtio_net_hdr_to_skb() that reads directly
from user-controlled shared memory.
Fix this by copying vnet_hdr from the mmap'd ring buffer to a
stack-local variable before validation and use, consistent with the
approach used in packet_snd() and all other callers. |

net/sched: teql: Fix double-free in teql_master_xmit
Whenever a TEQL devices has a lockless Qdisc as root, qdisc_reset should
be called using the seq_lock to avoid racing with the datapath. Failure
to do so may cause crashes like the following:

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/mlx5e: Fix race condition during IPSec ESN update
In IPSec full offload mode, the device reports an ESN (Extended
Sequence Number) wrap event to the driver. The driver validates this
event by querying the IPSec ASO and checking that the esn_event_arm
field is 0x0, which indicates an event has occurred. After handling
the event, the driver must re-arm the context by setting esn_event_arm
back to 0x1.
A race condition exists in this handling path. After validating the
event, the driver calls mlx5_accel_esp_modify_xfrm() to update the
kernel's xfrm state. This function temporarily releases and
re-acquires the xfrm state lock.
So, need to acknowledge the event first by setting esn_event_arm to
0x1. This prevents the driver from reprocessing the same ESN update if
the hardware sends events for other reason. Since the next ESN update
only occurs after nearly 2^31 packets are received, there's no risk of
missing an update, as it will happen long after this handling has
finished.
Processing the event twice causes the ESN high-order bits (esn_msb) to
be incremented incorrectly. The driver then programs the hardware with
this invalid ESN state, which leads to anti-replay failures and a
complete halt of IPSec traffic.
Fix this by re-arming the ESN event immediately after it is validated,
before calling mlx5_accel_esp_modify_xfrm(). This ensures that any
spurious, duplicate events are correctly ignored, closing the race
window. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
futex: Fix UaF between futex_key_to_node_opt() and vma_replace_policy()
During futex_key_to_node_opt() execution, vma->vm_policy is read under
speculative mmap lock and RCU. Concurrently, mbind() may call
vma_replace_policy() which frees the old mempolicy immediately via
kmem_cache_free().
This creates a race where __futex_key_to_node() dereferences a freed
mempolicy pointer, causing a use-after-free read of mpol->mode.

Make sure that __perf_event_overflow() runs with IRQs disabled for all
possible callchains. Specifically the software events can end up running
it with only preemption disabled.

and free various things the overflow path expects to be present, like
the BPF program. |

wifi: mac80211_hwsim: don't hand frames to mac80211 while stopping
The code checks ->started for frames coming from wmediumd, but the
radio can be stopped after the check and before frame delivery,
causing mac80211 to hit the WARN_ON(!local->started).
Expand the mutex for this case and synchronise against it when the
radio is stopped to avoid being able to hit the warning with hwsim.
Drop the error print that would've complicated the error path, it
only triggers for allocation failures (already noisy) and malformed
frames anyway. |

net_sched: drr: Fix double list add in class with netem as child qdisc
As described in Gerrard's report [1], there are use cases where a netem
child qdisc will make the parent qdisc's enqueue callback reentrant.
In the case of drr, there won't be a UAF, but the code will add the same
classifier to the list twice, which will cause memory corruption.
In addition to checking for qlen being zero, this patch checks whether the
class was already added to the active_list (cl_is_active) before adding
to the list to cover for the reentrant case.
