CVSS v3.1 |
| A Improper Validation of Specified Quantity in Input vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on PTX Series allows an unauthenticated IS-IS peer to cause a denial of service. |
| Improper Validation of Consistency within Input vulnerability in Erlang OTP ssl (tls_handshake_1_3, ssl_handshake and tls_client_ticket_store modules) allows a malicious TLS 1.3 server to cause a denial of service of the ssl application on the client node.
The TLS 1.3 client decodes the extensions of a NewSessionTicket message as if they came from EncryptedExtensions. It therefore accepts a 0-length early_data extension, a form that is only valid in ClientHello and EncryptedExtensions. With {session_tickets, auto}, the client stores the ticket in the node-global tls_client_ticket_store. On the next automatic resumption, tls_handshake_1_3:get_max_early_data/1 crashes the store with a case_clause. Repeated crashes can exceed the restart intensity of the ssl supervisors, which use the rest_for_one strategy, and take down ssl for all connections on the node.
This issue affects OTP from OTP 23.3 before OTP 27.3.4.19, OTP 28.5.0.8, and OTP 29.1.2, corresponding to ssl from 10.3 before 11.2.12.14, 11.6.0.7, and 11.7.8. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mptcp: avoid combining some incoming suboptions
Some MPTCP suboptions are mutually exclusive according to the RFC8684,
but also because in different places, the code doesn't expect some
combinations to be present. That's specially true for suboptions that
would be present twice, but with different attributes.
The new restrictions are the same as the ones applied on the output
side, with mptcp_write_options. The same rules can be reused with a
small fix: an MP_FASTCLOSE can be used with a DSS when the sender picks
this option [1], which is not the case on Linux. Here are the rules:
Which options can be used together?
X: mutually exclusive
O: often used together
C: can be used together in some cases
P: could be used together but we prefer not to (optimisations)
| Opt: | MPC | MPJ | DSS | ADD | RM | PRIO | FAIL | FC |
|------|------|------|------|------|------|------|------|------|
| MPC |------|------|------|------|------|------|------|------|
| MPJ | X |------|------|------|------|------|------|------|
| DSS | X | X |------|------|------|------|------|------|
| ADD | X | X | P |------|------|------|------|------|
| RM | C | C | C | P |------|------|------|------|
| PRIO | X | C | C | C | C |------|------|------|
| FAIL | X | X | C | X | X | X |------|------|
| FC | X | X | P | X | X | X | X |------|
| RST | X | X | X | X | X | X | O | O |
|------|------|------|------|------|------|------|------|------|
The only difference is with the 'P': another stack could send and
ADD_ADDR with other suboptions (DSS, RM_ADDR), and this should be
allowed.
A few points of attention:
- In theory, an MP_CAPABLE could be used with a RM_ADDR, but there is
no reason to add it with a SYN. Note that even with a 4th ACK, it
doesn't seem to be useful, except when IDs are known in advance via
another channel. Better not to break that.
- Now, combining both an MP_CAPABLE and an MP_JOIN will no longer
result to a reject of the two options, but only the second suboption
is ignored. That seems OK to do that for this unexpected error. At
least now all inconsistent combinations are handled the same way.
This could change later in next. This also means the explicit checks
for having both MPC + MPJ in subflow.c will now be unreachable.
That's fine, they will be removed in a follow-up patch.
- In case of conflicting combinations, the extra suboption(s) is/are
ignored: having such combinations either means the remote peer is
buggy, or is evil. The simplest action is then taken in this case:
stop processing the current suboption.
- In mp_opt->suboptions, there is also a bit reserved to the checksum,
which can be used in an MP_CAPABLE and a DSS. Each time a DSS option
can be used in parallel with another option, the checksum can be set,
so the verification is combined into a new OPTIONS_MPTCP_DSS macro.
- An MP_CAPABLE ACK can carry a Data-Level Length, and an optional
Checksum: they are the same as the ones found in a DSS, because a DSS
cannot be used in parallel to an MP_CAPABLE. Similarly, even if there
is room, a DSS cannot be used with an MP_JOIN. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
xsk: validate launch-time metadata size
Launch-time metadata extends beyond the first 16 bytes of struct
xsk_tx_metadata. Reject the request when the registered metadata area does
not contain the complete field.
Snapshot the validated flags for the generic transmit path and use that
snapshot for request and completion processing, avoiding inconsistent
decisions if user space changes the flags concurrently.
Note that only xsk_skb_metadata is properly using the flags,
__xsk_buff_get_metadata ignores them. Next commits address that. |
| Improper Validation of Syntactic Correctness of Input vulnerability in mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to set conn.host and conn.port to values outside the RFC 3986 host grammar via the authority of an HTTP/1 absolute-form or authority-form request target. Bandit validates the Host header and answers 400 when it is malformed, but when the request target carries its own authority that authority takes precedence, as RFC 9112 requires, and Bandit.Pipeline.determine_host_and_port!/4 in lib/bandit/pipeline.ex passes it to the application unchecked. A request line such as GET http://good.example@evil.example/x HTTP/1.1 with a valid Host header yields a conn.host of good.example@evil.example, and the same path admits NUL, DEL and non-ASCII bytes, invalid IP literals and ports outside 1..65535. The HTTP/1.0 clause needs no Host header at all, and CONNECT places the unparsed port string in conn.port.
Applications that build absolute URLs from conn.host, such as through Plug.Conn.request_url/1 or Phoenix URL helpers, emit links whose authority the attacker chose. Message framing is unaffected, and no CR or LF can reach conn.host.
This issue affects bandit: from 0.6.0 before 1.13.0. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ASoC: meson: aiu: Validate written enum values
The AIU HDMI and internal codec mux put callbacks use the written enum
value with snd_soc_enum_item_to_val() before checking whether the value is
valid for the enumeration.
Reject out-of-range values before converting the enum item, matching the
validation already done by the G12A HDMI and internal codec mux controls. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
libceph: Fix potential null-ptr-deref in decode_choose_args()
A message of type CEPH_MSG_OSD_MAP contains an OSD map that itself
contains a CRUSH map. When decoding this CRUSH map in crush_decode(), an
array of max_buckets CRUSH buckets is decoded, where some indices may
not refer to actual buckets and are therefore set to NULL. The received
CRUSH map may optionally contain choose_args that get decoded in
decode_choose_args(). When decoding a crush_choose_arg_map, a series of
choose_args for different buckets is decoded, with the bucket_index
being read from the incoming message. It is only checked that the bucket
index does not exceed max_buckets, but not that it doesn't point to an
index with a NULL bucket. If a (potentially corrupted) message contains
a crush_choose_arg_map including such a bucket_index, a null pointer
dereference may occur in the subsequent processing when attempting to
access the bucket with the given index.
This patch fixes the issue by extending the affected check. Now, it is
only attempted to access the bucket if it is not NULL. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfilter: ebtables: fix OOB read in compat_mtw_from_user
Luxiao Xu says:
The function compat_mtw_from_user() converts ebtables extensions from
32-bit user structures to kernel native structures. However, it lacks
proper validation of the user-supplied match_size/target_size.
When certain extensions are processed, the kernel-side translation
logic may perform memory accesses based on the extension's expected
size. If the user provides a size smaller than what the extension
requires, it results in an out-of-bounds read as reported by KASAN.
This fix introduces a check to ensure match_size is at least as large
as the extension's required compatsize. This covers matches, watchers,
and targets, while maintaining compatibility with standard targets.
AFAIU this is relevant for matches that need to go though
match->compat_from_user() call. Those that use plain memcpy with the
user-provided size are ok because the caller checks that size vs the
start of the next rule entry offset (which itself is checked vs. total
size copied from userspace).
The ->compat_from_user() callbacks assume they can read compatsize bytes,
so they need this extra check.
Based on an earlier patch from Luxiao Xu. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amd/display: Fix out-of-bounds stream encoder index v3
eng_id can be negative and that stream_enc_regs[]
can be indexed out of bounds.
eng_id is used directly as an index into stream_enc_regs[], which has
only 5 entries. When eng_id is 5 (ENGINE_ID_DIGF) or negative, this can
access memory past the end of the array.
Add a bounds check using ARRAY_SIZE() before using eng_id as an index.
The unsigned cast also rejects negative values.
This avoids out-of-bounds access.
Fixes the below smatch error:
dcn*_resource.c: stream_encoder_create() may index
stream_enc_regs[eng_id] out of bounds (size 5).

Unrelated but, ugh, why is Smatch saying that "eng_id" can be negative?

v2: use explicit bounds check as suggested by Roman/Dan; avoid unsigned int cast
v3: The compiler already knows how to compare the two values, so the
cast (int) is not needed. (Roman) |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
libceph: Prevent potential null-ptr-deref in ceph_handle_auth_reply()
If a message of type CEPH_MSG_AUTH_REPLY contains a zero value for both
protocol and result, this is currently not treated as an error. In case
of ac->negotiating == true and ac->protocol > 0, this leads to setting
ac->protocol = 0 and ac->ops = NULL. Thereafter, the check for
ac->protocol != protocol returns false, and init_protocol() is not
called. Subsequently, ac->ops->handle_reply() is called, which leads to
a null pointer dereference, because ac->ops is still NULL.
This patch changes the check for ac->protocol != protocol to
!ac->protocol, as this also includes the case when the protocol was set
to zero in the message. This causes the message to be treated as
containing a bad auth protocol. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/uverbs: Validate wqe_size before using it in ib_uverbs_post_send
ib_uverbs_post_send() uses cmd.wqe_size from userspace without any
validation before passing it to kmalloc() and using the allocated
buffer as struct ib_uverbs_send_wr.
If a user provides a small wqe_size value (e.g., 1), kmalloc() will
succeed, but subsequent accesses to user_wr->opcode, user_wr->num_sge,
and other fields will read beyond the allocated buffer, resulting in
an out-of-bounds read from kernel heap memory. This could potentially
leak sensitive kernel information to userspace.
Additionally, providing an excessively large wqe_size can trigger a
WARNING in the memory allocation path, as reported by syzkaller.
This is inconsistent with ib_uverbs_unmarshall_recv() which properly
validates that wqe_size >= sizeof(struct ib_uverbs_recv_wr) before
proceeding.
Add the same validation for ib_uverbs_post_send() to ensure wqe_size
is at least sizeof(struct ib_uverbs_send_wr). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/xe: Add bounds check on pat_index to prevent OOB kernel read in madvise
When user provides a bogus pat_index value through the madvise IOCTL, the
xe_pat_index_get_coh_mode() function performs an array access without
validating bounds. This allows a malicious user to trigger an out-of-bounds
kernel read from the xe->pat.table array.
The vulnerability exists because the validation in madvise_args_are_sane()
directly calls xe_pat_index_get_coh_mode(xe, args->pat_index.val) without
first checking if pat_index is within [0, xe->pat.n_entries).
Although xe_pat_index_get_coh_mode() has a WARN_ON to catch this in debug
builds, it still performs the unsafe array access in production kernels.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amd/display: Do not skip unrelated mode changes in DSC validation
Starting with commit 17ce8a6907f7 ("drm/amd/display: Add dsc pre-validation in
atomic check"), amdgpu resets the CRTC state mode_changed flag to false when
recomputing the DSC configuration results in no timing change for a particular
stream.
However, this is incorrect in scenarios where a change in MST/DSC configuration
happens in the same KMS commit as another (unrelated) mode change. For example,
the integrated panel of a laptop may be configured differently (e.g., HDR
enabled/disabled) depending on whether external screens are attached. In this
case, plugging in external DP-MST screens may result in the mode_changed flag
being dropped incorrectly for the integrated panel if its DSC configuration
did not change during precomputation in pre_validate_dsc().
At this point, however, dm_update_crtc_state() has already created new streams
for CRTCs with DSC-independent mode changes. In turn,
amdgpu_dm_commit_streams() will never release the old stream, resulting in a
memory leak. amdgpu_dm_atomic_commit_tail() will never acquire a reference to
the new stream either, which manifests as a use-after-free when the stream gets
disabled later on:

Since there is no reliable way of figuring out whether a CRTC has unrelated
mode changes pending at the time of DSC validation, remember the value of the
mode_changed flag from before the point where a CRTC was marked as potentially
affected by a change in DSC configuration. Reset the mode_changed flag to this
earlier value instead in pre_validate_dsc().

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
scsi: ibmvfc: Fix OOB access in ibmvfc_discover_targets_done()
A malicious or compromised VIO server can return a num_written value in the
discover targets MAD response that exceeds max_targets. This value is
stored directly in vhost->num_targets without validation, and is then used
as the loop bound in ibmvfc_alloc_targets() to index into disc_buf[], which
is only allocated for max_targets entries. Indices at or beyond max_targets
access kernel memory outside the DMA-coherent allocation. The
out-of-bounds data is subsequently embedded in Implicit Logout and PLOGI
MADs that are sent back to the VIO server, leaking kernel memory.
Fix by clamping num_written to max_targets before storing it. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ext4: validate p_idx bounds in ext4_ext_correct_indexes
ext4_ext_correct_indexes() walks up the extent tree correcting
index entries when the first extent in a leaf is modified. Before
accessing path[k].p_idx->ei_block, there is no validation that
p_idx falls within the valid range of index entries for that
level.
If the on-disk extent header contains a corrupted or crafted
eh_entries value, p_idx can point past the end of the allocated
buffer, causing a slab-out-of-bounds read.
Fix this by validating path[k].p_idx against EXT_LAST_INDEX() at
both access sites: before the while loop and inside it. Return
-EFSCORRUPTED if the index pointer is out of range, consistent
with how other bounds violations are handled in the ext4 extent
tree code. |
| No cwe for this issue in Microsoft Office SharePoint allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges over a network. |
| Improper validation of specified type of input in .NET Framework allows an unauthorized attacker to perform tampering over a network. |
| Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 0.29.2, the experimental dynamic client registration and client ID metadata document features in the @backstage/plugin-auth-backend use full-string matcher.isMatch glob matching for auth.experimentalDynamicClientRegistration.allowedRedirectUriPatterns and the auth.experimentalClientIdMetadataDocuments allowedClientIdPatterns and allowedRedirectUriPatterns options. A hostname wildcard can match across URL component boundaries, allowing an attacker-controlled redirect URI with a trusted hostname suffix in its path to pass the allowlist and receive an OAuth authorization code after a victim completes the flow. Patterns without an explicit protocol can match unintended protocols, and redirect URIs containing embedded credentials are accepted after user information is stripped for matching. The features are experimental and disabled by default; only deployments that enable them and configure custom wildcard-hostname or protocol-less patterns are affected. This issue is first fixed in prerelease version 0.29.2. |
