| In NTFS-3G before 2026.7.7, a heap buffer overflow exists in ntfs_index_walk_down() in libntfs-3g/index.c that allows an attacker to corrupt heap memory in the SUID-root ntfs-3g binary by crafting a malicious NTFS image. The overflow is triggered by reading the special crafted file metadata. |
| Heap-based buffer overflow in the legacy Blowfish encryption routine (BlowFishEncryptor::Encode, called by EncryptToString) in Progressive Robot hMailServer 6.0.0 through 6.3.5 allows an authenticated mailbox user to cause a denial of service (service crash), and possibly other unspecified impact. In 6.3.4 and 6.3.5, where the self-service REST API is enabled (it is off by default), the user does this remotely by adding a fetch account whose password is 129 to 247 characters long and not a multiple of 8, and then requesting their personal data export (GET /api/v1/me/export.zip), which encrypts that password with the legacy scheme. The same flaw is reachable on Windows by any local interactive user with no hMailServer credentials, through the COM method Utilities.BlowfishEncrypt, which checked no authentication. It is also reachable by every stored-secret write when ProtectStoredSecretsWithDPAPI is set to 0. For such a length, the routine's padding loop writes up to 7 zero bytes 2 to 232 bytes past the end of its 255-byte heap buffer. The ciphertext it returns is still correct. |

| Vim is an open source, command line text editor. Prior to 9.2.0846, set_sofo() in src/spellfile.c reuses sl_sal_first[] without resetting values left by set_sal_first(), so a crafted spell file containing an SN_SAL section before an SN_SOFO section causes under-counted mapping lists and attacker-influenced writes beyond a heap allocation. This issue is fixed in version 9.2.0846. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
KEYS: encrypted: fix integer overflow of datablob_len
encrypted_key_alloc() stores datablob_len in a u16. It is computed from
multiple string and payload lengths. If the result exceeds U16_MAX, the
assignment truncates the allocation size. KASAN reports a 32760-byte
slab-out-of-bounds write when __ekey_init() copies the master key
description into the undersized buffer.
The total payload length stored in key->datalen is also a u16. Use
check_add_overflow() to reject values that do not fit either destination,
and use kzalloc_flex() for the flexible-array allocation. |

| GNU Aspell prezip-bin contains a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the decompressor in prog/prezip.c. The decompressor does not properly check buffer space, so a crafted compressed file can cause out-of-bounds read and write operations on the heap. An attacker who convinces a user to process a malicious compressed file with prezip-bin can trigger memory corruption, leading to a processs crash.
This issue was fixed in commit 15b188437f9e0192d4ac4472ad66a4e2f62a782f which will be released in version 0.60.8.3. |
