CVSS v3.1 |
| IBM Guardium Data Protection 12.2 stores internal REST service-account passwords in a reversible plaintext-equivalent format. An authenticated attacker who gains access to the stored credential could recover the password and obtain an administrative REST access token. |
| The insights-runtime-extractor runs as a privileged DaemonSet (`hostPID: true`)
that scans container processes for runtime fingerprinting. When scanning a
container, the coordinator:
1. **fork()s** a child process
2. **setns()** into the target container's PID and mount namespaces
3. **fchdir()** back to an orphaned FD pointing at the extractor's own root
filesystem (where `/crio.sock` is hostPath-mounted)
4. Calls **only `seteuid(target_uid)`** — changing the effective UID but leaving
the **real UID and saved-set-UID at 0** and **retaining the permitted
capability set**
5. The `check_no_privileged_perms()` guard inspects only the Effective capability
set (so it passes), and is **skipped entirely when the target runs as uid 0**
6. The `VersionExecutable` fingerprint invokes `fpr_kind_executable` with
`process.command_line[0]` — the target's argv[0], read from
`/proc/<pid>/cmdline` and **fully controlled by the workload**
7. `fpr_kind_executable` calls `exec.Command(executable, "--version").Output()`
— executing the **workload's own binary** inside the workload's mount
namespace while **ruid=0 in the host user namespace**
The executed process can call `setuid(0)` to restore full root with
`CAP_SYS_ADMIN`, and inherits the orphaned cwd which resolves into the extractor
container's filesystem containing the host CRI-O socket.
## Affected Code
### 1. Insufficient privilege drop (Rust — extractor coordinator)
**File:** `extractor/src/insights_runtime_extractor.rs`
```rust
// Lines 139-146 — seteuid-only drop, guard skipped for root containers
join_process_namespaces(process.pid)?;
change_dir(current_dir);
switch_user(*process.uid)?;
if *process.uid != 0 {
perms::check_no_privileged_perms()
.expect("Must not have privileged permissions to run fingerprints");
}
fingerprint::run_fingerprints(&config, out_dir, &process);
```
```rust
// Lines 182-185 — only effective UID changed; ruid/suid stay 0
fn switch_user(uid: u32) -> Result<(), ScannerError> {
debug!("... Becoming user: {uid}");
seteuid(uid.into()).map_err(|e| ScannerError::Errno(e))
}
```
### 2. Execution of untrusted binary (Go — fingerprint)
**File:** `fingerprints/pkg/utils/file.go`
```go
// Lines 75-80 — executes a path taken verbatim from workload's argv[0]
func GetExecutableVersionOutput(executable string) (string, error) {
out, err := exec.Command(executable, "--version").Output()
if err != nil {
return "", err
}
return string(out), nil
}
```
### 3. Workload-controlled path forwarded (Rust — version_executable)
**File:** `version_executable.rs`
```rust
// Lines 29-34 — workload-controlled command_line[0] forwarded to fingerprint
return Some(vec![
fpr_kind_executable,
out_dir.to_string(),
String::from(&process.command_line[0]),
String::from(&version_executable.runtime_kind_name),
]);
```
## Attack Pattern
**Attacker:** Any tenant able to schedule a pod (unprivileged, any namespace)
**Victim:** The node running the insights-runtime-extractor DaemonSet
**Trigger:** Automatic — the DaemonSet scans all container processes on the node
**Attack sequence:**
1. Attacker creates a pod whose process name matches a configured
versioned-executable pattern (`node`, `python`, `python3`, `MainThread`,
or contains `java`)
2. The pod's main binary (at the path matching argv[0]) is a malicious
executable that calls `setuid(0)` to restore root
3. When the insights operator triggers a scan, the DaemonSet forks, enters the
attacker's mount namespace, and executes the attacker's binary with ruid=0
4. The attacker's code regains full root with `CAP_SYS_ADMIN` in the host user
namespace
5. The inherited cwd contains the host CRI-O socket → full node compromise |
| RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. Prior to versions 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, 4.2.6, and 4.3.0, The AMQP 0-9-1 shovel calls amqp_uri:remove_credentials before storing its connection URI, but the AMQP 1.0 shovel stores the raw URI including the password. The stored URI is visible via GET /api/shovels and via rabbitmqctl shovel_status. Preconditions include The Shovel plugin must be in use with AMQP 1.0 shovels configured using URI-embedded credentials. Reading the exposed status requires the monitoring tag.. This issue is fixed in versions 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, 4.2.6, and 4.3.0. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: Fix ld_{abs,ind} failure path analysis in subprogs
Usage of ld_{abs,ind} instructions got extended into subprogs some time
ago via commit 09b28d76eac4 ("bpf: Add abnormal return checks."). These
are only allowed in subprograms when the latter are BTF annotated and
have scalar return types.
The code generator in bpf_gen_ld_abs() has an abnormal exit path (r0=0 +
exit) from legacy cBPF times. While the enforcement is on scalar return
types, the verifier must also simulate the path of abnormal exit if the
packet data load via ld_{abs,ind} failed.
This is currently not the case. Fix it by having the verifier simulate
both success and failure paths, and extend it in similar ways as we do
for tail calls. The success path (r0=unknown, continue to next insn) is
pushed onto stack for later validation and the r0=0 and return to the
caller is done on the fall-through side. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
xfrm6: fix uninitialized saddr in xfrm6_get_saddr()
xfrm6_get_saddr() does not check the return value of
ipv6_dev_get_saddr(). When ipv6_dev_get_saddr() fails to find a suitable
source address (returns -EADDRNOTAVAIL), saddr->in6 is left
uninitialized, but xfrm6_get_saddr() still returns 0 (success).
This causes the caller xfrm_tmpl_resolve_one() to use the uninitialized
address in xfrm_state_find(), triggering KMSAN warning:

Fix by checking the return value of ipv6_dev_get_saddr() and propagating
the error. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
rxrpc: reject undecryptable rxkad response tickets
rxkad_decrypt_ticket() decrypts the RXKAD response ticket and then
parses the buffer as plaintext without checking whether
crypto_skcipher_decrypt() succeeded.
A malformed RESPONSE can therefore use a non-block-aligned ticket
length, make the decrypt operation fail, and still drive the ticket
parser with attacker-controlled bytes.
Check the decrypt result and abort the connection with RXKADBADTICKET
when ticket decryption fails. |
| A vulnerability was detected in D-Link E15, M32, R15 and R32. This issue affects some unknown processing of the file /etc/emDaemon/passwd of the component MQTT Broker. The manipulation results in hard-coded credentials. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploit is now public and may be used. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iio: pressure: rohm-bm1390: Return error when read fails
The data reading function ignores the cached error value, and
unconditionally returns 0. Return cached 'ret' -value after stopping
the measurement so user knows if read failed and data is garbage. |
| Improper access control in Windows Host Guardian Service allows an authorized attacker to perform tampering locally. |
| A flaw was found in OpenSSH. On platforms that cannot pass file descriptors and that need root to allocate a terminal, the post-authentication session process keeps root privilege. An authenticated user can then perform actions as root, including privileged socket connections and binding forwards to low-numbered ports. |
| libIEC61850 is an open-source implementation of IEC 61850 client and server protocols including MMS, GOOSE, Sampled Values, and R-Session. Prior to 1.6.2, the MMS file service in src/mms/iso_mms/server/mms_file_service.c accepts an out-of-range initialPosition in fileOpen and stores it in the file-read state. The fileRead path then subtracts the larger read position from the file size using unsigned arithmetic and fails to limit the response to the actual FileSystem_readFile return value. The oversized response can include stale bytes from the reused connection buffer after the requested file contents, disclosing prior response data and protocol fragments to an unauthenticated remote client when the file service is enabled. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.2. |
| A weakness has been identified in agno-agi agno up to 3.0.6/3.1.1. This issue affects the function member_agent.run in the library libs/agno/agno/team/_default_tools.py of the component Delegation Feature. Executing a manipulation can lead to execution with unnecessary privileges. The attack can be executed remotely. The exploit has been made available to the public and could be used for attacks. The pull request to fix this issue awaits acceptance. |
| A security flaw has been discovered in FunnyWolf Viper up to 3.1.11. The affected element is an unknown function of the file /root/viper/.git/config. Performing a manipulation results in hard-coded credentials. Remote exploitation of the attack is possible. The exploit has been released to the public and may be used for attacks. |
| Eclipse Jetty's `SessionAuthentication` retains authentication credentials in a serializable object. When the credentials contain a plaintext password and the authenticated session is persisted to a session data store, the password may consequently be written to persistent storage in plaintext.
An attacker with sufficient privileges to read the persisted session data may obtain the plaintext passwords of authenticated users. |
| WebCTI service for Slican IPx telephone exchanges stores temporary subscriber password in plaintext. An attacker with access to the database can obtain the user's password and log in to the subscriber's account.
This issue was fixed in IPx series version 6.62.0100. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
cachefiles: Fix error return when vfs_mkdir() fails
When vfs_mkdir() fails, the error code is not extracted from the
returned error pointer. This causes mkdir_error to be reached with
ret=0, which leads to returning ERR_PTR(0) (NULL) instead of a
proper error pointer.
Fix this by extracting the error code from the error pointer when
vfs_mkdir() fails. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ALSA: ctxfi: Check the error for index mapping
The ctxfi driver blindly assumed a proper value returned from
daio_device_index(), but it's not always true. Add a proper error
check to deal with the error from the function. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: cfg80211: undo netns switch if renaming the wiphy fails
Once all the interfaces have been moved, cfg80211_switch_netns()
moves the wiphy itself by setting its network namespace and then
renaming it, which makes sysfs move it. The rename can fail (but
only on allocation failures), leaving things mixed up and hitting
the warning there.
Ignoring it isn't great, undo the move and let the change fail
in this case. If undo fails then WARN, then things would again
be stuck in two different network namespaces. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ipv4: icmp: fix null-ptr-deref in icmp_build_probe()
ipv6_stub->ipv6_dev_find() may return ERR_PTR(-EAFNOSUPPORT) when the
IPv6 stack is not active (CONFIG_IPV6=m and not loaded), and passing
this error pointer to dev_hold() will cause a kernel crash with
null-ptr-deref.
Instead, silently discard the request. RFC 8335 does not appear to
define a specific response for the case where an IPv6 interface
identifier is syntactically valid but the implementation cannot perform
the lookup at runtime, and silently dropping the request may safer than
misreporting "No Such Interface". |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
udp: Fix wildcard bind conflict check when using hash2
When binding a udp_sock to a local address and port, UDP uses
two hashes (udptable->hash and udptable->hash2) for collision
detection. The current code switches to "hash2" when
hslot->count > 10.
"hash2" is keyed by local address and local port.
"hash" is keyed by local port only.
The issue can be shown in the following bind sequence (pseudo code):
bind(fd1, "[fd00::1]:8888")
bind(fd2, "[fd00::2]:8888")
bind(fd3, "[fd00::3]:8888")
bind(fd4, "[fd00::4]:8888")
bind(fd5, "[fd00::5]:8888")
bind(fd6, "[fd00::6]:8888")
bind(fd7, "[fd00::7]:8888")
bind(fd8, "[fd00::8]:8888")
bind(fd9, "[fd00::9]:8888")
bind(fd10, "[fd00::10]:8888")
/* Correctly return -EADDRINUSE because "hash" is used
* instead of "hash2". udp_lib_lport_inuse() detects the
* conflict.
*/
bind(fail_fd, "[::]:8888")
/* After one more socket is bound to "[fd00::11]:8888",
* hslot->count exceeds 10 and "hash2" is used instead.
*/
bind(fd11, "[fd00::11]:8888")
bind(fail_fd, "[::]:8888") /* succeeds unexpectedly */
The same issue applies to the IPv4 wildcard address "0.0.0.0"
and the IPv4-mapped wildcard address "::ffff:0.0.0.0". For
example, if there are existing sockets bound to
"192.168.1.[1-11]:8888", then binding "0.0.0.0:8888" or
"[::ffff:0.0.0.0]:8888" can also miss the conflict when
hslot->count > 10.
TCP inet_csk_get_port() already has the correct check in
inet_use_bhash2_on_bind(). Rename it to
inet_use_hash2_on_bind() and move it to inet_hashtables.h
so udp.c can reuse it in this fix. |
