| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: bridge: fix soft lockup in br_multicast_query_expired()
When set multicast_query_interval to a large value, the local variable
'time' in br_multicast_send_query() may overflow. If the time is smaller
than jiffies, the timer will expire immediately, and then call mod_timer()
again, which creates a loop and may trigger the following soft lockup
issue.
watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 221s! [rb_consumer:66]

This issue can be reproduced with:
ip link add br0 type bridge
echo 1 > /sys/class/net/br0/bridge/multicast_querier
echo 0xffffffffffffffff >
/sys/class/net/br0/bridge/multicast_query_interval
ip link set dev br0 up
The multicast_startup_query_interval can also cause this issue. Similar to
the commit 99b40610956a ("net: bridge: mcast: add and enforce query
interval minimum"), add check for the query interval maximum to fix this
issue. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
USB: gadget: f_midi: f_midi_complete to call queue_work
When using USB MIDI, a lock is attempted to be acquired twice through a
re-entrant call to f_midi_transmit, causing a deadlock.
Fix it by using queue_work() to schedule the inner f_midi_transmit() via
a high priority work queue from the completion handler. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
clocksource: Use migrate_disable() to avoid calling get_random_u32() in atomic context
The following bug report happened with a PREEMPT_RT kernel:
BUG: sleeping function called from invalid context at kernel/locking/spinlock_rt.c:48
in_atomic(): 1, irqs_disabled(): 0, non_block: 0, pid: 2012, name: kwatchdog
preempt_count: 1, expected: 0

clocksource_verify_choose_cpus+0xab/0x1a0
clocksource_verify_percpu.part.0+0x6b/0x330
clocksource_watchdog_kthread+0x193/0x1a0
It is due to the fact that clocksource_verify_choose_cpus() is invoked with
preemption disabled. This function invokes get_random_u32() to obtain
random numbers for choosing CPUs. The batched_entropy_32 local lock and/or
the base_crng.lock spinlock in driver/char/random.c will be acquired during
the call. In PREEMPT_RT kernel, they are both sleeping locks and so cannot
be acquired in atomic context.
Fix this problem by using migrate_disable() to allow smp_processor_id() to
be reliably used without introducing atomic context. preempt_disable() is
then called after clocksource_verify_choose_cpus() but before the
clocksource measurement is being run to avoid introducing unexpected
latency. |

Prevent adding a device which is already a team device lower,
e.g. adding veth0 if vlan1 was already added and veth0 is a lower of

This is because thousands of processes are in the OOM cgroup, it takes a
long time to traverse all of them. As a result, this lead to soft lockup
in the OOM process.
To fix this issue, call 'cond_resched' in the 'mem_cgroup_scan_tasks'
function per 1000 iterations. For global OOM, call
'touch_softlockup_watchdog' per 1000 iterations to avoid this issue. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: stmmac: fix TSO DMA API usage causing oops
Commit 66600fac7a98 ("net: stmmac: TSO: Fix unbalanced DMA map/unmap
for non-paged SKB data") moved the assignment of tx_skbuff_dma[]'s
members to be later in stmmac_tso_xmit().
The buf (dma cookie) and len stored in this structure are passed to
dma_unmap_single() by stmmac_tx_clean(). The DMA API requires that
the dma cookie passed to dma_unmap_single() is the same as the value
returned from dma_map_single(). However, by moving the assignment
later, this is not the case when priv->dma_cap.addr64 > 32 as "des"
is offset by proto_hdr_len.
This causes problems such as:
dwc-eth-dwmac 2490000.ethernet eth0: Tx DMA map failed
and with DMA_API_DEBUG enabled:
DMA-API: dwc-eth-dwmac 2490000.ethernet: device driver tries to +free DMA memory it has not allocated [device address=0x000000ffffcf65c0] [size=66 bytes]
Fix this by maintaining "des" as the original DMA cookie, and use
tso_des to pass the offset DMA cookie to stmmac_tso_allocator().

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
erofs: handle overlapped pclusters out of crafted images properly
syzbot reported a task hang issue due to a deadlock case where it is
waiting for the folio lock of a cached folio that will be used for
cache I/Os.
After looking into the crafted fuzzed image, I found it's formed with
several overlapped big pclusters as below:
Ext: logical offset | length : physical offset | length
0: 0.. 16384 | 16384 : 151552.. 167936 | 16384
1: 16384.. 32768 | 16384 : 155648.. 172032 | 16384
2: 32768.. 49152 | 16384 : 537223168.. 537239552 | 16384
...
Here, extent 0/1 are physically overlapped although it's entirely
_impossible_ for normal filesystem images generated by mkfs.
First, managed folios containing compressed data will be marked as
up-to-date and then unlocked immediately (unlike in-place folios) when
compressed I/Os are complete. If physical blocks are not submitted in
the incremental order, there should be separate BIOs to avoid dependency
issues. However, the current code mis-arranges z_erofs_fill_bio_vec()
and BIO submission which causes unexpected BIO waits.
Second, managed folios will be connected to their own pclusters for
efficient inter-queries. However, this is somewhat hard to implement
easily if overlapped big pclusters exist. Again, these only appear in
fuzzed images so let's simply fall back to temporary short-lived pages
for correctness.
Additionally, it justifies that referenced managed folios cannot be
truncated for now and reverts part of commit 2080ca1ed3e4 ("erofs: tidy
up `struct z_erofs_bvec`") for simplicity although it shouldn't be any
difference. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
inet: read sk->sk_family once in inet_recv_error()

IPv6 socket could mutate to IPv4 with IPV6_ADDRFORM
socket option and trigger a KCSAN warning. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
sysv: don't call sb_bread() with pointers_lock held
syzbot is reporting sleep in atomic context in SysV filesystem [1], for
sb_bread() is called with rw_spinlock held.
A "write_lock(&pointers_lock) => read_lock(&pointers_lock) deadlock" bug
and a "sb_bread() with write_lock(&pointers_lock)" bug were introduced by
"Replace BKL for chain locking with sysvfs-private rwlock" in Linux 2.5.12.
Then, "[PATCH] err1-40: sysvfs locking fix" in Linux 2.6.8 fixed the
former bug by moving pointers_lock lock to the callers, but instead
introduced a "sb_bread() with read_lock(&pointers_lock)" bug (which made
this problem easier to hit).
Al Viro suggested that why not to do like get_branch()/get_block()/
find_shared() in Minix filesystem does. And doing like that is almost a
revert of "[PATCH] err1-40: sysvfs locking fix" except that get_branch()
from with find_shared() is called without write_lock(&pointers_lock). |

| When doing HTTP(S) transfers, libcurl might erroneously use the read callback (`CURLOPT_READFUNCTION`) to ask for data to send, even when the `CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS` option has been set, if the same handle previously was used to issue a `PUT` request which used that callback. The problem exists in the logic for a reused handle when it is changed from a PUT to a POST. |

| A defect in the Qt for MCUs core string handling causes heap memory corruption. When an application passes text into Qt Quick Ultralite using the public Qul::String interface type, and that text is held in a std::string, the conversion to the internal string type copies the pointer without taking ownership of it. Two objects then release the same memory, producing a double free, an invalid free, or a use-after-free. |
